Children's Ministries

During baptism, the MAPC community joins parents in making the pledge to raise our children in the knowledge and love of God. We promise our new brother or sister in Christ that we will tell them the good news of the Gospel, help them know all that Christ commands, and work to strengthen their ties with the whole people of God. We honor these promises by offering programs that encourage and enable our young people to participate fully in the life of our church, through worship, education, and fellowship.

Children’s Worship

Ages 3 to 8
During Sunday Morning Worship Services, year-round

We encourage children to share in the worship experience together with their families from life’s start, but recognize the difficulty for children to appreciate the worship service at a young age. To that end, every Sunday morning worship service includes a special Lesson for Young Christians, and children ages 3 to 8 are escorted out of the Sanctuary during part of the main worship service for their own worship lesson. This worship lesson is designed specifically to teach them about worship and prepare children to participate more fully in the main service when they are older. After the worship lesson, the children return to their families in the Sanctuary, and those who are baptized are invited to participate in Communion during the worship service.

Church School

Preschool and Up
Sunday mornings 10:15-11 am, September-May

This year, we are under the new leadership of Sharon Boersma and Barbara Iverson, longtime MAPC members and Church School teachers, and we are expanding the number of class groupings to welcome younger students. All children, preschool and up, are welcome, including visitors! During this time, children sing together before going into separate classrooms for Bible lessons and other activities.

Kids’ Club

Preschool-6th Grade

Our Wednesday afterschool program for children in preschool through 6th grade is one of the most popular CE programs at MAPC. Children gather each week for Bible study, recreation, Choir rehearsal, and a Family Dinner to which parents, siblings, and others are invited! The Bible study classes are all taught by our pastoral staff, and the children’s music program is under the excellent direction of Ms. Mary Huff.

By enrollment only; please visit our Kids’ Club page for more information.

MAPC Children’s Library

Sunday mornings and by appointment

Our Youth Library has been reconfigured as a lending library for parents and young children, and a playroom for infants and toddlers on Sunday mornings during worship services. Parents may listen to the worship service as children read and play, and, in addition to storybooks, you will find books on parenting, Christian parenting, children’s Bibles, and much more! The Youth Library is located behind the Reception office in the Church House Lobby.
