20s/30s Group Returns

The 20s/30s Group has had a break for the summer and is looking forward to a fresh start this fall. We’ll kick off the program year with a special Summer’s Sunset wine and cheese evening, Saturday, September 20, from 6 to 9 pm in the Roof Garden. We’re also planning a few brunch dates after the 11:15 am service on Sundays and other fall events, so watch for future announcements! If you have questions about our group, please contact Megan Wiltfong at mapc.20s30s@gmail.com.

In Appreciation for MAPC Overnight Shelter Participants!

We would like to announce a planned appreciation barbeque for all participants in the MAPC Shelter Ministry that has been scheduled for Tuesday, September 30, 6-8 pm on the Roof Garden of the Church House.

Joan Dietrich has announced her “retirement” as the member coordinator of our Overnight Shelter. Veteran participants and hosts in our shelter ministry, as well as those interested in joining the effort, should plan to come and join in celebrating Joan’s years of service, and to renew and refresh our commitment to ending homelessness and hunger!

In addition, if shelter Hosts have not received their copy of the Overnight Shelter Procedures, please contact Doug Grace at dgg@mapc.com to receive a copy.

Two More Sundays with the Summer Choir!

You are invited to sing with the Summer Choir for the remaining Sunday mornings of our summer worship schedule: August 24 & 31. Rehearsals take place on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am in the Choir Room in preparation for the 10:30 am Worship service. Information about the Summer Choir may be found in the Narthex and on our web site at: http://www.mapc.com/html/06_life/2008-Summerchoralmusic.pdf.

We also welcome those who might be interested in singing with the Church Choir this season. Rehearsals begin on Thursday, September 4 at 7 pm. Choral music has always played an important role in MAPC’s services of worship. The repertoire that the Church Choir will be singing from September through May can be found online at: http://www.mapc.com/html/06_life/2008-2009-ChoralMusic-webversion.pdf, or please pick up a copy of the Choral Music brochure in the Narthex. Saint Andrew Music Society: Announcing Our 44th Season!

If you are on MAPC’s mailing list, you’ve just received the 2008-2009 season brochure! We hope that you can join us for some of the 19 concerts we will be offering on Sunday afternoons and Wednesday evenings, ranging from choral masterworks with the Saint Andrew Chorale & Orchestra, a series featuring all of Beethoven’s violin sonatas, plus talented pianists, chamber musicians, and our 4th Annual Carol Sing–one of our most popular annual events. Brochures are now available in the Narthex and in the Church House lobby, so please consider picking up a few extras to give to friends and family. The brochure is also available online: http://www.mapc.com/html/06_life/SAMS_2008-09Season.pdf. Since 1965 MAPC has been opening up our Sanctuary doors to our neighbors and to music lovers in the tri-state area. Please support this form of “musical outreach” to our surrounding community!
