Rebecca S. Jones Commissioning Service

The Rev. Beverly A. Bartlett - August 30, 2011

When Hurricane Irene prevented us from holding our regular Sunday morning worship service last Sunday, August 28, it meant that we were not able to commission Rebecca S. Jones, the 2011-2013 Phillips Talbot Global Ministry Fellow before she leaves for Zambia tomorrow, August 31. With a flurry of last minute e-mails and phone calls, we were able to gather 13 people, including current members of the Session and Board of Deacons to represent the MAPC congregation in a small commissioning service in the Dana Chapel this afternoon, August 30.

We wish Rebecca Godspeed as she travels tomorrow and pray for God’s guidance, comfort, encouragement and wisdom as she begins her year in ministry with Theological Education by Extension Zambia (TEEZ). Rebecca will have a week of overlap and orientation with Molly Dowell Baum, the 2010-2012 GMF and her husband Ryan before they leave for their travel time this fall. Molly and Ryan will be back at MAPC December 1 through the end of May, 2012.

Please remember to visit Rebecca and Molly’s blogs periodically. They can be accessed through the website. And please remember Rebecca in your prayers as she begins serving in Zambia.
