Lenten Icon
Please join us for each of the Sundays of Lent at one of our three worship services at 9 am, 11:15 am or 7:30 pm.

To learn more about a particular service, consult our web calendar or our weekly Pastoral Staff Letter.

Additionally, each Sunday we invite you to join us for a Lenten Book Study on Simply Christian by N. T. Wright at 1 pm in our Parish Hall.

During the first five Sundays in Lent, beginning this Sunday, February 26, the Pastoral Staff will lead a book study group on N.T. Wright’s Simply Christian: Why Christianity Makes Sense. Written for non-Christians, skeptics, novices as well as for those who have been Christian for many years, Simply Christian looks at the issues of justice, spirituality, relationships and beauty as central to the life of faith and the mystery of who God is and what God wants from us. N.T. Wright is one of the most prominent contemporary Biblical scholars and theologians of our day. He is known for writing about Biblical and theological issues in a way that is accessible for those who do not have a formal theological education. The schedule for the five-week study is as follows:

February 26, Chapters 1-4 (Echoes of a Voice), Don Wahlig, leader
March 4, Chapters 5 and 6 (God and Israel), Beverly Bartlett, leader
March 11, Chapters 7-10 (Jesus and the Spirit), Fred Anderson, leader
March 18, Chapters 11-13 (Worship, Prayer and Scripture),
Millie Tourtelot, leader
March 25, Chapters 14-16 and Afterword (The Church and Discipleship),
Fred Anderson, leader

A limited number of copies of the book will be available for the subsidized price of $10 in the Church House Lobby after the morning services this Sunday. If you will not be here to purchase your copy, (or if we run out!) you may order it or the Kindle® version from Amazon. (Please note, there is also a Kindle® version that is only available to those in the UK, but if you follow this link, you will be able to download the book.)

A lunch of soup, salad, sandwiches and beverages will be served for $10. Come observe a Holy Lent by sharing this spiritual discipline of reading and reflection with other MAPC members.

Then please join us for worship during Holy Week.
